Hub Luv in the Magical Land of HubPages #6
60
The contest is over, and things are starting to return to normal. I was able to even make it all the way through one of the HubPages notification emails. It's been a little quiet around HubPages since Thanksgiving. I am assuming that is normal as this is my first Thanksgiving here.
Some of us have started a 30 in 30 challenge. It's still not too late for you to join in on the fun with us. That is the beauty of the 30 in 30 - it can be started at any time. But it is always good to do with others where you can have support by reading and commenting on each other's work. If you would like to drop into the forum and see all the activity happening, or you would like to support some of your fellow hubbers, we would certainly love to see you there. This may no longer be the last page by the time you read this. Make sure you get to the end to get the latest scoop!
Sharing Hub Luv with You
mary615 wrote a wonderful poem that I could so relate to, The Lure Of HubPages: A Silly Little Poem. If you are like me, you will think that she was reading your mind when she wrote this cute little poem.
And Speaking of Poems:
Until I came to HubPages, I did not realize there were so many different types of poetry. I had heard of a Haiku and a Limerick. And then there were the poems that rhymed and the poems that didn't. That was basically it. But over the last couple weeks, I have come across hubs that introduced me to other kinds of poems.
This first hub, Iris White's Plight ..., I actually read about a month ago. In that hub, Fennelseed introduced me to Triolet Poetry. This is a very interesting form of poetry.
Then this last week, I first ran across brittanytodd's hub, Simply Shattered: A Pantoum. This looks like another interesting take on poetry. As it is described in the introduction, "This unique structure uses recycled lines from earlier parts of the poem."
I also came across Denise Handlon's hub, Variations of Poetry. In this hub, Denise has written about the Haiku, the Limerick, and Nonsensical Poetry (I might could do this one). She also addressed a fourth type of poetry - not sure if it has a name or if it is something that she made up. But it entails using the last word of the previous line to begin (be the first word) the next line. She also shared with us her progression through the development of a poem such as this.
For your viewing pleasure: BOO!
I included this video for no particular reason - just because. This dog always reminds me of a teddy bear, but I love Pomeranians. After watching this video, I realized Boo is even more famous than I thought!
Hop-links or Page Jumps
Next, I want to bring a topic up called hop-links, also called page jumps. They are really hard to describe, so let me just show you. If you go to my hub, Spider Robot Printed Into Existence Using New Technology: Robotic Kits Make Great Gifts, and scroll to the very bottom where you will find:
"Resource Site:
Clicking on this . . . save lives not enslave them"(this last text is a blue hyperlink)
and click on that hyperlink that I defined, you will hop, or jump, to the picture of the spider that was actually printed into existence (on someone else's website even)! I had to do this because I did not have permission or rights to use that photograph, but I wanted my readers to be able to see it. That is where hoplinks, or page jumps, come in.
I have written a hub to explain how to do this, Intrapage Link or Page Jump. Please make sure you test your page jumps before publishing. It will save you a lot of trouble.
In my series of hubs beginning with, What is a Nebula? Part 1, Different Kinds of Nebulae, I have incorporated over 100 page jumps, allowing my readers to jump from one hub to another. This made in possible for me to create an index of the nebulae on Part 1, and the reader could click on a nebula's name and be taken directly to it on any of the other four parts of the series.
That's it for this week!
Remember, if this information helped you, it will also help others others. Please share it with them!
This is the 6th Hub Luv, be sure and check out any you have missed.I try to share new tips in each one and great reads from great authors. Who knows, you may even find yourself featured in the next Hub Luv hub.
That's all for this week. Until next time ... Happy Hubbing!

Another great hub highlighting some hubs and hubbers I'm aware of and some that are new to me. Was particularly glad to see Mary615's wonderful poem here. Yes, I did see myself reflected in it! Am also going to look into the Website Examine Yellow Pages listing.
Am bookmarking this. Voted up, useful, awesome and interesting.
Hello homesteadbound, thanks for the mention of "my silly little poem" that I had SO much fun writing!
I, among many others, are eagerly awaiting the results of the contest. I've already chosen the ones I want to win out of the ones I read. I couldn't read them all, of course. I would not want to be a judge in this contest!
BTW, the video about Boo was cute, but I beg to differ: My "Baby", the Miniature Schnauzer is the cutest dog in the world. Goodnight and regards, Mary
Another great hub, Thank you for linking Mary's poem, it was such a delight to read.
