Hubba Bubba - Hub # 50
79
In just a few days, I will have discovered the HubPages community 7 weeks ago. It has been such a wonderful experience for me. I have never written before . . . had always wanted to . . . was overwhelmed at the prospect of writing a whole book . . . but then an ad in the newspaper caught my eye as I was going through the job listings.
Writing to make money, it said. That sounded like the dream job. Scam, crossed my mind, but hey . . . it didn't cost anything but time . . . so the adventure began. Or maybe I should say, the addiction began, because I am hooked!
I have always been able to express myself better with the written word than verbally. Perhaps it's because I have time to think about what I want to say before saying it, so I have to pull my foot out of my mouth a whole lot less often.
But if you would have told me that I would have written more than 50 articles in this time period I would not have believed you. And what's really amazing is that I can still think of things to write about! And different things are constantly inspiring me to say, "Oh, I want to write about that!" So the HubPages community might be stuck with me for a long time.
HubPages Community
In the four paragraphs that I have written so far, I wrote "HubPages Community" twice. And each time that I did, I got a nice warm fuzzy feeling. You are really a great bunch of folks! You have patience with those of us who have so much to learn. You answer the same questions over and over again - courteously! You are so willing to help and to share your knowledge.
For this poor little farm girl that was once thrust into the big city, I have had to make lots of adjustments in my life. And six weeks ago, when I decided to begin this journey on HubPages, I was once again thrust into the unknown. But from day one, everyone has been so helpful and I want you to know that I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart! It has been scary to put my writing out for all to see . . . but you have made it painless. In fact, I am my worst critic!
There are really some very talented people here that I have learned so much from. Having said that, I have also learned that there is so much more to learn. I keep bookmarking hubs that I want to read, and then trying to read a few everyday. But I'm not catching up! My bookmarks currently exceed 130 hubs! But most importantly - I am having fun doing something that I enjoy doing, surrounded by a great bunch of people. Thanks!
Finding Myself
During this time period, I completed the 30 hubs in 30 days. The title of that hub was, "1st 30 Hubs in 30 Days Hub Challenge: Self Discovery!" And I did learn a whole lot during that time period, and at an accelerated pace.
But since the challenge, I am starting to find my voice - whatever that means. To me it means that the words are coming easier and don't feel so forced. I am also becoming comfortable enough not to take myself so seriously . . . I can let my hair down a little and be myself. That might be scary for all of us.
See, there I go again! Popping up and trying to be funny! Funny or not, that's how I'd talk. I am starting to write how I talk. If I understand it right, that's what it means to find your voice. Writing is becoming more fun and flows a whole lot easier. Just like talking!
The Journey Began
Originally, when I started writing, I thought I would write primarily on two topics: eldercare issues and homesteading/rural issues. But as I look back on the articles I have written, I see that my topics are all over the place.
And that's okay! I've lived a few years and I might have some things to say about a few areas of interest I have had through those years.
I'm also finding inspiration for things to write about in the most unlikely of places, like an e-mail that someone sent to me. Or seeing a lizard in someone's home. Or running across a video that I found to be so funny, I just couldn't wait to share it with my HubPage family, so I had to think of a way to incorporate it into a hub.
This is my official 50th hub, although I have written more. Since the 30 day challenge, I deleted some of my earlier hubs, wrote some more, and now find myself at 50. Below you will find a listing of all 50 hubs, listed in groups.

Since my husband and I own a caregiving agency, you will probably see quite a few more hubs in this area. I plan to finish this Alzheimer's series, and add other Alzheimer's articles to the mix. It is harder to write about this because I keep getting distracted by so many other fun topics.

Animals are a passion for me, so I imagine that you will see quite a few more articles about animals. I have some animal topics picked out that are cooking on the back burners waiting for the inspirational spark to flare, and then you will see them.

This breed, also known as the Transylvanian Naked Neck, was first bred in Hungary, and later perfected in Germany. Contrary to what some folks believe, the Naked Neck is 100% chicken-not a cross between turkey and chicken.
Poultry . . . I do intend to write more on this subject. In fact, someone said they were following me because they read in my bio that I intended to write about poultry; so, I guess I better! But lately poultry has not inspired as it did earlier with the Silkie Chicken. I still love those Silkies!

I wanted to share my list of hubs in this format so that someone who might come across this hub, might see that inspiration can be found almost anywhere.
Stats
As I looked over other hubs dealing with milestones, and how people wrote about them, one thing that was shared was statistics. So I will share a few with you. More than anything, it gives me a reference point when I complete the next 50.
Hubs Written: 50
Hubber Score: 92
Hub Score Average: 75
Followers: 77
Hub Views: 3504
Comments: 420
Fan mail: 17
Hub Feedback: 69 useful, 39 awesome, 23 beautiful, 92 interesting, and 11 funny.
Another thing that looking at these statistics does for me, is to let me know where I am so that I can set goals of where I would like to be. That is something that I will think about, and at some point and time I may add them to this hub, but for now, I'm going to bask in the glory of 50 and not put any stress on myself.
Once again thanks to all of you. Without you, I would not be here now. It's a real good feeling!

You have done very well in your short time here. (There are worse things as a basis for addiction.) I'm sure your experience will inspire other newbies.
I know your hubs look like you take good advantage of the features offered here.
I really like your variety of subjects-- I tend to do the same with jumping back and forth between interests, Your past experiences have given you several subjects to explore in articles.
(I also have a few chickens). I will be going back to take a closer look at your hubs.
Carry on!
Congratulations for a job very well done! You've been a here a week longer than me, but have twice the hubs. Your writing is enjoyable to read and I look forward to seeing your Hubba Bubba - Hub #100.

I found your hub very interesting and useful, so of course it is a definite thumbs up! I am so glad you took the challenge to find your voice through the hubs, homesteadbound. : ) Like you, I find it easier to write what I want to say, while having time to think about it, before I ever say it. The written word is just as important as what we say in person, isn't it? ;)
Congratulations! This is simply amazing and I must mention that all your Hubs are so informative that they just keep me glued to them. Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts. Hope to have many many more hubs soon :)

Wow! I see you've written another 25 hubs since this one and more than doubled the number of people who are following you. That is an amazing achievement in such a short time period and as Prairieprincess commented, the quality, not just the quantity of your hubs is great. You're off to an amazing start and it's great that you're also having so much fun here which makes you a source of inspiration for those who have been on Hub Pages much longer.
Hope the job does come through but in the meantime it's wonderful that you're being so productive with your writing. Yes, hubbing is addictive!

Congrats on your 50th hub. That is awesome. I love your hubs, you give me the inspiration I need to keep writing( I have so many unpublished hubs). I just need to get over it and start that 30 hubs in 30 days challenge myself. A vote up and awesome. Keep writing!

Oh my goodness, I think you are a prodigy! Well, at least a Hubpages prodigy! Seriously, your stats and number of hubs written are absolutely amazing. I can't believe you actually have 50 hubs in less than two months. And they're good, too! You fresh hubbers are putting some of us "older" hubbers to shame with all your ambition and natural talent. Awesome work and I'm so glad to be your follower. Take care.
p.s. I am sharing this with my feed, btw. I am very impressed.
